Nowhere 04:55
NOWHERE 30 days and 30 nights 30 airports 30 flights 30 meals and 30 fights No one going nowhere All that junk food made me fat All alone so bought a cat It moved next door and that was that, No one going nowhere I can’t remember what’s her name My God that girl drove me insane I'm never gonna be the same No one going nowhere I miss the pleasure not the pain Not the girl and not the game Now I know just who's to blame No one going nowhere The more I learn the less I know It doesn’t matter where you go Just never let your feelings show No one going nowhere ------------------------------------------------- I don’t look too close Or too far ahead Not much you ever do Will matter when you’re dead And I’ve got this feeling They closed the door So face first into the wind, I can’t feel my feet and I can’t see the floor ------------------------------------------------- I went back it’s not the same I’m never doing that again I think I’ll take the morning train No one going nowhere Tomorrow if you’re still around I’ll meet you on the edge of town I won’t be here when it goes down No one going nowhere What I’m saying in this song Is that we never do belong Or maybe I just got it wrong No one going nowhere Keep the bar set low my friend If you stand too tall prepare to bend But it won’t matter in the end, No one going nowhere Piano solo You got the future at your door This is it - did you want more? Be careful what you settle for No one going nowhere I got one more thing for you I won’t tell you what to do But look for something that is true Now you’re going somewhere ------------------------------------------------- I don’t look too close Or too far ahead Cos not much you ever do Will matter when you’re dead And I’ve got this feeling They closed the door So face first into the wind, I can’t feel my feet and I can’t see the floor --------------------------------------------------

REMARKABLE GIRL Mike Peters ©2015 V1 Remarkable girl we can let go this world Find a new place we can breathe Where people are kind with a smile in their eyes We both know it's time we should leave V2 Show me the world as you want it to be Take me back down to the sea I'll be your man, you'll be the woman I need Bring nothing along but the words to this song Bridge You are the wind and the sea You are the only way forward for me I’ll place my heart in your hands and my life at your feet CH Woman of grace Come show your face Remarkable girl There's a place in the world we can be V3 Come take my hand, just look to the stars Walk by my side - you're with me Help me to be who you want me to be Just you and I as we smile at the sky V4 Remarkable girl, there's a chill in the wind But I'm always warm when you're near It's time we should go now there's no one around Nobody knows that we're here Bridge You are the wind and the sea You are the only way forward for me I’ll place my life in your hands and my heart at your feet CH2 Woman of grace Gentle embrace You glide through the sky And you're willing to try to be free

© 2017 Mike Peters ----------------------------------------------- You roll around inside my head as I stumble through the day Long conversations with you though you’ve long since gone away I don’t even know where you are or how you spend your time But you spend your days with me; you’re here as I spend mine Music that we made was gold, we’d play like we were one That summer lay before us and a story had begun No one saw what I could see when I looked in your eyes And no one knew how deep we ran, so perfect our disguise CH It was all so long ago, those days we sang and played And I’ll never know what might have been if you only had stayed But we were in the right place at exactly the wrong time You had yours to be with, and I had mine But not a day goes by when I don’t wonder where you are And think of how you’d grin at me on our way home in the car So much promise in your eyes, and that yearning in my heart But knowing it would end before it had a chance to start And I wonder if you think of me, if I still figure in your life Do you stop what you are doing and just hope that I’m alright We always said we’d always know if one of us was aching I wonder if you even guessed how hard my heart was breaking CH It was all so long ago, those days we sang and played And I’ll never know what might have been if you only had stayed But we were in the right place at exactly the wrong time You had yours to be with, and I had mine Although I never made a move, and it all happened in my mind What we did inside my head was perfect every time I guess the thing that hurts the most as the years go rushing by Is that we'll never even know what might have happened if we’d tried CH It was all so long ago, those days we sang and played And I’ll never know what might have been if you only had stayed But we were in the right place at exactly the wrong time You had yours to be with, and I had mine ------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------- Charlie got lucky and he laid her down Charlie got Judy from Kingston town Judy said "baby I can you set you free" Charlie said "honey, make a man of me" Charlie and Judy made themselves a home But Judy stayed out, left him all alone Charlie got angry, Judy felt bad Judy felt trapped, Charlie felt sad You see, Judy had another guy, something to hide Grass looked greener on the other side Charlie kept calling trying to get her home But Judy wouldn't answer her mobile phone Charlie got lonely and Charlie got fat Charlie just stayed in the empty flat Everything he looked at spoke her name Judy was gone and but she’d left the pain, yeah Well then Judy came back and said "honey I’m wrong" Charlie said "baby you been gone too long Nobody answered when I called your name Too late baby I’m not the same, no" Charlie stood up, Judy sat down Stared out the window, wouldn’t turn round Judy said baby "don’t you care for me" Charlie said "this ain’t how it’s s’posed to be" Charlie walked slowly through the open door Judy sat crying on the bedroom floor He never came back, never called again Was once his lover but never his friend, no ------------------------------------------------

Date Night 03:33
I should'a known it when we argued all the way to town I got so angry every time that she would put me down We sat in traffic and our voices just got really loud I noticed once again that sure enough we'd drawn a crowd I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going She turned and said well then I think you better take me home I said we oughta persevere with this if we were able Started to realise we really should'a booked a table It took an hour till the dopey waiter took our order I said well maybe we should only just be drinking water She said I think I'll need a drink to make it through the night I said the way that this is turning out you could be right The waitress came without a word and simply dumped our meal My calamari looked and tasted like potato peel The fish was old and cold and really had a funny smell It wasn't hard to see the evening wasn't going well I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going She turned and said well then I think you better take me home Got to the movies and we couldn't work out where to go Not looking good cos we'd already missed the early show We started running just to try to find a place to sit But it was empty, not a soul and baby we were it I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going She turned and said well then I think you better take me home We sat for 15 minutes man one thing was crystal clear Not hard to see why we're the only people sitting here The plot was poor and pointless and the acting really bad She started playing with her phone and I got really mad I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going She turned and said well then I think you better take me home Got up and left and slowly crept along the corridor Nobody saw us as we snuck into the show next door But they all noticed when she tried to find an empty chair Sat on a lady's lap, a lap she didn't know was there I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going She turned and said well then I think you better take me home We staggered from the bar and headed to another show But when she spilled her drink it landed in the second row A tender moment in the show the crowd had waited for Was when I heard it: oh my god she had begun to snore I said I just don't like the way that this whole thing is going I woke her up and said I think I better take you home There's been a change of plan I think I'm goin' home alone

August Sun 03:59
August Sun They lay there each morning and watched the dawn In the cold August sun kept each other warm Tangled in bedclothes and sleepy eyed Time standing still and the world outside Long days they lay there and plan their way Never quite making the bed today Kissing her forehead, stroking her hair Singing to her as she’s lying there But time has a way of changing things No one can guess what the future brings She woke one morning to find he'd gone She lay there beside him and cried til dawn Winter crept by and each morning came But that cold August sun could not ease the pain Nobody held her or touched her hair Or kissed her awake as she’s sleeping there And yet she can still hear his words each day Still see his face and his gentle way But the days are so long and the nights so cold The price for living - is growing old. © Mike Peters 2015

LOVE’S NOT ENOUGH © 2015 Mike Peters She tells him it’s all over; he hangs there on the phone But then she’ll say she's sorry by the time that he gets home Cos she is always leaving, now he can’t stay No point making plans when you live day to day She waits there in the kitchen, and wonders if he’ll call But this time was the last time, his back's against the wall She sits down at the table and holds it all inside This love never worked, she don’t know why she tried CH What can I do that will make it alright We find our way back or we kiss it goodnight We're watching our dreams fall apart as they must Love is a lot – but love’s not enough She’s gone when he gets home, she won’t be back tonight Staring at TV, he thinks about the fight He’s only home to say goodbye, the tears fill his eyes This love never worked he don’t know why he tries CH What can I do that will make it alright We find our way back or we kiss it goodnight We're watching our dreams fall apart as they must Love is a lot – but love’s not enough BRIDGE And when you feel your heart break, And when you see all your plans go so wrong You know it's all a mistake But you still wanna try, and it tears you apart CH What can I do that will make it alright We find our way back or we kiss it goodnight We're watching our dreams fall apart as they must Love is a lot – but love’s not enough

Days of Laughter Mike Peters ©2014 I've been lovin' all the days of laughter The nights of thunder and mornings after All since I first met you Now it's closing time, it's almost over Could I be your lover, if we grow closer I think that I just want you M8: As you stand at the door Your eyes on the floor This moment is slipping away I can't think what to do now To hold on to you now This time I've got nothing to say Sometimes I think you just can't see me This isn't easy, I think what could be Ever since I met you Bridge: Have you even told her How you want to hold her? Cos maybe she just doesn't know You need to be stronger Don't wait any longer You reap the seeds that you sow I've been lovin' all the days of laughter The nights of thunder and mornings after All since I first met you

Sweet Face 05:57
Sweet Face ©Mike Peters 2015 Coming back home, maybe you should have phoned The taxi has gone, you're there all alone You think that you're wrong, You think that you might be mistaken It was hard when you left, it felt like a death What started so well died where it fell You don't know why you're here, nothing is clear Don't know where now Chorus: And I said "Darlin' I see you there with your sweet face Standing alone with your suitcase Tell me are you gonna stay?" And I said "Darlin', I'm watching you there at my front gate You look like you'll go but just please wait Now that you're here will you stay?" I'll leave you the key, it's easier for me Baby you're home, I'll leave you alone I'll call you later, I'm in no rush and we'll go slow I don't know if you've changed, I'm not the same The battles are won, the peace has begun Now that you're here, I think I can see where I lost you Chorus Bridge: If you whisper my name (whisper my name), I will be here (I will be here) If you tell me to leave (tell me to leave) Then I'll go, yes I'll go, yes I'll go. Chorus Believe me darlin', nobody knows where the days went And nobody knows how your time's spent Everything gets in the way - these days

Heartbeats 04:55
HEARTBEATS © Mike Peters 2015 Each child that is born has a number, The number of beats of their heart This total is set on the day they take breath; The number is fixed at the start CH It cannot be changed, it cannot be fooled, You don’t know how many are left They cannot be bought, they cannot be sold, They’re set when you first take a breath And what would it be to give some to a child, Or some to a lover or friend As our bodies grow old there’s not much of us left, We don’t need them all near the end CH It cannot be changed, it cannot be fooled, You don’t know how many are left They cannot be bought, they cannot be sold, They’re set when you first take a breath We won’t get one less and we won’t get one more, The number is set at the start And all of our magic and all of our prayers Will not add one beat to your heart CH It cannot be changed, it cannot be fooled, You don’t know how many are left They cannot be bought, they cannot be sold, They’re set when you first take a breath M8 It jumps when you love It breaks when you hurt, it measures your passion and pain But when the number is come, It stops as it started, And nothing will start it again Your heart will just slowly count down your life, The clock that is keeping the score And no one can know when their number is up, And no one can ask for more CH It cannot be changed, it cannot be fooled, You don’t know how many are left They cannot be bought, they cannot be sold, They’re set when you first take a breath ----------------------------------------------

Already Gone 05:36
ALREADY GONE Mike Peters ©2016 And one more night I’ll try so hard to keep that day away And one more day you’ll just pretend that you want to stay And one more morning I’ll wake up and feel a lesser man And we’ll struggle on and smile, and we’ll be the best we can We’ll sit across the table, and you’ll talk about your day A nervous laugh, a smile, as you gently pull away And you are being oh so nice, and trying hard to care And I’ll pretend you’ll stay with me, you’ll pretend that you’re still here CHORUS I know why you don’t leave me babe, Cos you’re already gone. The distant look that’s in your eyes, when you think that I don’t see I don’t know where you go to, but it doesn’t include me Today when we made love, you pulled your mask across your face The girl I love has gone, and there’s no one in her place CHORUS [Woman] Please believe me, I once loved you, but I’m already gone This will hurt you, please forgive me, but I’m already gone The fear inside tears out my heart, there’s not one damn thing I can do As we slowly fade away, I know I’m losing you I can’ t make you love me, and I can’t hold onto you And I know the day is coming, but I won’t stop loving you CHORUS [Woman] This will hurt you, please forgive me, but I’m already gone Oh my baby, I’m so sorry, bit I’m already gone BRIDGE I can make this right, I can fix this babe I can I can make us good, I will be your man again [Woman] Please believe me, I’m so sorry, but I’m already gone CODA I won’t share your future, but I still have our past And you can’t take it with you How we were, you and I
